Get happy! (Reposted from 8.29.11)

This new blog is just for students, at least for now. I’ll post my anticipatory thoughts on each class-day’s proceedings at my morning blog,  Up@dawn, and retrospective reflections on my day blog Delight Springs. Some of my @Osopher tweets will be pertinent, too.
Today it’s preliminaries, looking at the (short-form) syllabus, getting clear on our next step on Thursday: aggregating (but not segregating) ourselves into small discussion/research groups.
If anyone (or more than one) would like to volunteer (for extra participation credit) as webmaster, please do. I’d love for someone to take on the happy task of building a really useful and informative resource full of relevant happy-links & widgets etc. Also need someone to take charge of firing up the computer/projector in JUB 204 prior to each class.
This should be fun. My question, to kick us off, is: Do you think there’s a secret of life, a philosopher’s stone, a key to the kingdom that can unlock the cabinet of human flourishing? Why or why not? Does your response to this question fill you with hope, despair, or anything at all?
Before you leave, on our first class date, remember to input your email address so you too may join this happy collaboration.
Let’s do it!
