East vs West Discussion Questions

ooops...

DQ

1) Do you think if the East and West switched beliefs for a year, some would choose to keep those ordeals or everyone would go back to their old ways?

2) We challenge you to take 30 minutes a day (or as much time as you can) to meditate and do absolutely nothing for a week. Tell us about your experience.

3) Studying the Buddhist philosophy, knowing that "the path to happiness starts from an understanding of the root causes of suffering... But rather than the smile of a self-satisfied, materially-rich or celebrated man, Buddha's smile comes from a deep equanimity from within." Would you think this is the best way to be a peace?

4) This was a quiz question but it is something to consider... What is the difference between collectivism and individualism? Which do you believe is better? If you chose West, do you think it is because it was how you were raised?

This video has nothing to do with this BUT it's funny and deals with a kind of East vs West.

  1. I think some might adopt some of the beliefs on the other. To me, most people keep an open mind to knowledge and everyone is open to new forms of happiness. Someone with one belief might adopt meditation techniques or some other form of enlightenment from another.
