Amor fati

Stoicism in action. Tonight I talked with my son, who with his partner, child and dog, has lost pretty much everything of material value he owns. Honest to the gods, he sounded almost cheerful. You know what he said to me? - "Hey, amor fati; maybe something good will come of this." Thank you philosophy.

I am sorry for his loss, but very glad his family is okay. And, it is awesome that he can have such a positive outlook. Good for him!

I can't imagine the loss they are going through, but it brings me joy to know that what we're learning in class can sort of help in this situation.

I can't stand it

Though the ULTIMATE state of the universe may be its extinction, there is nothing in physics to interfere with the hypothesis that the PENULTIMATE state might be a happy and virtuous consciousness...

Remember when old December's darkness is everywhere about
