I have difficulty using the phrase "cherry picking" in a non-negative way. My experience with it prior was always about people who want absolute authority for their position, but who want to ignore unfortunate consequences of that, some being logical contradictions.
I propose a positive re-branding of the term. But if that doesn't work for you, go with a variant like Owen Flanagan's "hybridism"... or just call it pluralism. (I have a feeling you may still have difficulty accepting it... we all have our limitations.)
