Thanks for posting this, Claire. See, outside research" can be fun!

Ehrenreich here distinguishes being "positive" from being happy, especially when it's forced or demanded. Also noteworthy is her repeated insistence that she doesn't want people to be "grumpy," she just wants more realism and empathy in our public life and discourse.

I can't stand it
