  1. Factual Question: True of False, The Greek Festival was called Carnival.
Answer: False. It was the Medieval Festival.

Discussion Question: Do you think the news should be a reliable source for the truth, or, as Hect says "content is similar to outright fiction"?
I personally don't watch the news. Ever. If there is something going on, its because social media has prompt me to it. I had no idea severe weather was coming through a few days ago, I didn't know we were even close to a government shutdown until the night it happened... and yet I'm living day by day just fine. I feel like the majority of news is biased, and its just as much entertainment as a reality show.

My link doesn't have much to do with philosophy, but I certainly think its something worth celebrating!

  2. Certainly, group celebrations invoke communal sentiment among many people, and some may focus on the celebration's explicit meaning, rather than that they are around others. Imagine celebrations on the night of a Usonian presidential election. Some celebrate, because they believe the better candidate won. Some celebrate, because their candidate won. Also of interest are those whom group celebrations isolate, because the social nature of celebrations emphasizes those bonds which are not shared by everyone (or this may be incidental to why they feel isolated).

  3. Yeah but... when your team loses, a small but important part of you empathizes with (or envies) the winner. Viewed rightly, that feeling can unify. Not to mention motivate. ("Wait 'til next year!")
