But we DO have control over the quality of our attention to life's little pleasures... just not over the body's (so far) inevitable decline. Get it while you can!
I stumbled over the phrase "Why not insist to yourself." I'm not sure how long that line of insistence is sustainable.

I'm with you with the line of insistence, though...if someone is already inclined to feel despondent or melancholic about the amount of satisfaction that they gain, then I highly doubt that this individual could keep up with insisting otherwise for very long. Isn't that the whole reason that they're in a funk in the first place? A lack of insisting?
Could be that they never thought of it that way, but I still don't think it'd be easy to just hop out of it and stay out. Also, this comic reminds me that, even though I could choose to see the world anew like I did when I was young, I can't forget everything that I've learned since then....Otherwise, I'm bound to give myself diabetes or injure myself through overexertion lol
